Tony

How are things coming with your queen program?

Would you like any queen cells I harvest this year? I know its a haul over to this side of town but my goal is to harvest about a dozen or so and give away the rest. Maybe more, who knows. I figure I started off with 12 colonies last year and harvest about a dozen total. With just under 30 I hope to have a whole lot more.

I'd really like to see this region develop a decent queen breeder. Right now that's you. Very Happy

Well, that's the goal to sell a few queens and nucs as well as getting my own operation back to full production. I just bought 100 deep 10 frame boxes and am looking for 50 or so deep nuc boxes so I'll be busy this year filling boxes with bees. The goal is to raise nucs and local queens that are hygenic, cold hardy, and make a lot of honey. That's a big order to fill. You never know what you're gonna get when fooling around with mother nature. I've always liked ferals myself. I have the plan all setup as far as drone saturation, collecting ferals, hive evaluation, etc. I really need to collect a lot of swarms to get going so if you have a few extras let me know. I will just breed the best of the best ferals and maybe add a vsh breeder if needed and see what happens. If you have some extra cells from untreated hives overwintered one year than I'll take a few. Also to anyone else who keeps their hives chem-free and has excellent stock let me know if you'd like to trade some queens or cells.
