Here's a photo of our largest hive. We've harvested the honey and now we're planning to split it.

that's Flowergirl on the right.

Nice hive. Did you do anything special to build this hive up in the Spring? Love the name. LOL

We don't do anything other than make sure the brood is in the bottom box in the spring and that they are always looking up to open comb or foundation. As the supers fill, we add more.
Two supers go on each hive in the spring when the dandelion blooms. Hives that produce honey we make queens from it.If not we kill the queen and replace her with one we raised from a good colony.
This colony only had 1 super that wasn't capped.
